When the Muse from Luca took over Tranyx in 2E295, they made a concentrated push to eliminate The Open Spirit in the city. Though they failed to eradicate the order completely, the numbers were cut down significantly and would take several hundred years to rebound. This was the first attack on the Zito in history, and they were furious.
The Zito realized that the planar geography that Luca was situated in was perfect for a portal, so they mustered their powers and opened a portal in the middle of the city in 2E312. The resulting gravitational fluctuations ripped most of the buildings to shreds. When the Zito army flooded out of the portal, the Muse city was completely unprepared for the horrors that awaited them. A few were able to flee, but most perished in the slaughter.
The Zito initially were content to leave the city and portal named Luca, however their scholars soon came to the conclusion that the portal was so easy to open in this location because Lucifer was somehow connected to the spot. Some popular theories were that Lucifer had been killed and was buried under the city, that Lucifer was still alive and was in stasis somewhere under the city, or that Lucifer had spent a great deal of energy in that location long ago and was somewhere else resting. Regardless, the Zito then renamed the city, fortress, and portal after Lucifer.
